May 2018 | s::can strives to be a place for women to grow and thrive in tech careers. Therefore, we participated at the “Viennese daughters’ day” and opened our doors to girls on April 26. Our female engineers, researchers and technicians were looking forward to present the various possibilities women have in a high-tech company including hands-on tasks for a day.

The 16th Viennese daughter’s day made it possible for girls to get first impressions of technical, craft and scientific jobs and to awaken their interest for such educations. The pupils have thus the possibility to take first insights into the professions.

s::can was one of the Viennese companies that opened its doors for the students. Six girls visited us, whom we presented our company as well as the various sectors of our company with the help of our female employees. CEO and owner Andreas Weingartner told our visitors with engagement and joy of s::can, its development and the products to measure water quality as well as the international environment of the water industry. Due to experiments, samples and test with our female employees, our visitors got first insights of our production cycle and devices. In order to help the girls with their choice of education at a later time, we presented which education would be needed in order to be able to work in the various technical areas of the company.

By the enthusiasm of the s::can employees the girls got inspired to deal more with technology and to take a technical job into consideration. The Viennese daughter’s day was therefore a complete success and an unforgettable experience for all participants.
